Checked Out And Checking In On The Gingham Moment

Checked Out And Checking In On The Gingham Moment

Gingham is having its biggest comeback yet. Here's why we're not surprised and how we wore it first.

If your For You page has been flooded with red and white checks lately, you're not imagining it. Gingham, that classic, humble pattern most of us associate with picnic blankets and Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz, has officially had a full glow-up. And honestly? We saw it coming.

From countryside to catwalk

Gingham has this interesting history of bouncing between "too casual" and "high fashion" depending on who's wearing it. It's been on Brigitte Bardot, it's been on Kim Kardashian, and it's been on runways in Milan and on market stalls in the same week. What's happening right now, though, feels different designers are going bigger with it. More dramatic silhouettes. Richer colors. Statement cuts that take the pattern somewhere it's never quite been before.

The check is the same. Everything around it has changed.

Why red, specifically

Of all the gingham colorways having a moment, red and white is the one that keeps showing up on street style accounts, at brunches, and on international runways. There's something about the contrast that feels both timeless and bold at once. It doesn't whisper. It walks into a room, and the room notices.

Gingham used to feel safe. Right now, in the right hands, it feels like a statement.

How we interpreted it

When Studio Bonnitta brought this set to us, it was an easy yes. Because it's not gingham the way you've seen gingham. Oversized puff sleeves that taper into fitted cuffs. Wide-leg palazzo trousers that graze the floor. A red ribbon tie at the neckline that pulls the whole thing together with this effortless, intentional touch. Deep side pockets, because we firmly believe luxury should never ask you to sacrifice practicality.

It's the kind of piece that makes gingham feel like it was always meant to be this elevated.

Red & white gingham. Puff sleeves, wide-leg trousers, ribbon tie neckline. Limited stock — only 2 left in size 8.

How to wear it

We styled ours with gold statement earrings and strappy heels, and that combination does something. But honestly, the set holds its own. You could go minimal with accessories and still walk into any room and own it. It's that kind of piece.

It works for a brunch, a birthday, or a daytime event where you want to look like you made an effort without looking like you tried too hard. Which, if you ask us, is the hardest thing to pull off, and this set does it naturally.

Gingham had its quiet era. That's over now. And we're glad we have the set to prove it.

The set is still here. For now.

Two left in size 8. Once they're gone, preordering is the only way in and it costs more. You know what to do!!!
